Peter Bonnily’s passion for carpet and upholstery cleaning is clear. As the franchisee for four Elite territories, Peter services a wide stretch of Brisbane’s north — from Pullenvale in the west through to Burpengary in the north.
Based on the picturesque Redcliffe Peninsula, Peter took over the local Elite franchise around six years ago, purchasing the business from long-time owner Barry George.
“At the time, I was looking for the right franchise opportunity and came across Barry’s business, which he was preparing to sell ahead of retirement,” Peter explains. “I was impressed by how well established it was and the strong, loyal customer base he’d built.”
After spending time working alongside Barry and completing hands-on training, Peter officially took over the business — a decision he says he has never regretted.
From Adelaide to Queensland: A Sea Change That Paid Off
Originally from Adelaide, Peter and his wife spent years visiting Redcliffe during the winter months to see family. Drawn to the warmer subtropical climate, they eventually made the move north and settled in Queensland.
At the time, Peter was working as a landscape gardener and continued in that role briefly after relocating. However, the opportunity to join Elite Maintenance Services Group ultimately led him in a new direction.

Job Satisfaction That Makes the Driving Worthwhile
Covering multiple franchise territories means Peter spends plenty of time on the road — but for him, the results make it worthwhile.
“The combined size of the areas we service does involve a lot of driving,” Peter says, “but the job satisfaction comes from seeing the transformation. Leaving a home, room or piece of furniture looking dramatically better than when we arrived makes it all worth it.”
Most of Peter’s work is residential, with a significant portion of clients choosing professional upholstery cleaning. In fact, upholstery services now account for around one-third of his workload — a reflection of Elite’s growing reputation in this area.

A Professional Who Practices What He Preaches
Despite his background in landscaping, Peter admits gardening isn’t his main focus these days.
“I’ve got a garden, but I don’t spend much time working on it,” he laughs. “I actually get a gardener in to take care of it for me.”
